Roundup Collection

I’m notorious for multitasking, though I have been known to get stuck in certain loops, like my papercraft obession. I can’t help it, I love making things.

So for all you fine folks out there, I give you a roundup of the latest things I’ve made!

To kick things off, I present you with two more members of Aido’s Monkey Army, complete with personas:

The Mad Scientist

The Mad Scientist

I’m really pleased that I managed to get the lab coat mostly right! Oh, he’s totally crazy.  You should see some of his experiments.

Mutant Monkey

Mutant Monkey

The very first of the Mad Scientists’ experiments. Whether the experiment was successful or not remains unclear, as a 3 tailed monkey could prove to be quite useful for certain missions.

Next, I have some vinyl art for you. Not much but there will be much more on the way!

House of The Rising Sun

House of The Rising Sun

I found a vinyl EP of the Animals singing “House of The Rising Sun” in a charity shop. It’s a track that I’ve always loved ever since I was a kid listening to my Dads’ records but I don’t have a record player so I decided to turn it into art. I painted a (modern) New Orleans skyline against a rising sun. I’m still unsure as to whether it’s finished but I’ll update again if I do “finish” it.

Vinyl Heads

A simple piece but I like it nonetheless.

Next up, still on the stencil theme:

A piece of jewellery next:

And finally…

In case you’re wondering what this has to do with my blog, I made him play the piano.

See? I’m constantly making things!

Let me know what you think of them in the comments, cheers!

Art

I’ve been doing art for as long as I can remember and it’s an aspect of my life that’s very important to me. It definitely runs in my (large) family and for years I thought it was natural to have brothers and sisters who all dabbled in art and music. My brothers have been very inspiring with their art and music for years, even though they themselves were scattered around the globe. (We’re natural born travellers it seems.)

So, from my brothers I learnt drawing, sketching, painting, calligraphy and photography. I’ve already shown you some of my photos so today I’m going to show you some of my drawings and sketches.

Some of this stuff is real old as I used to draw a lot, especially as a teenager. I then hit a dark patch for a few years. During this time, most of the art I made did not survive but luckily one or two pieces are still with me.

And some of these pieces are pretty new, within the last year or so when my artistic streak was revived by having my very own protegé. (Which, I must admit, is freakin’ awesome! You can check out his stuff on onequickclick.wordpress.com)

Enjoy!

"Hand Of Fire"

In 2007/2008 I decided to challenge myself with doing a giant-sized calligraphy piece based on the spoken word song “Coded Language” by Saul Williams. It took a few months due to laziness and lack of a deadline for myself. It also took 7 A2 pages, at least 4 or 5 black pens, going over each and every letter at least twice (my pens kept on running out of ink and it was pretty visible otherwise), an entire eraser rubbed out of existence and a whole lot of patience.

I’m only going to show you a sample or two but you can view the rest here.
